Media and attention deficit trait

Do you jab at the "door close" button of the elevator? Do you keep scanning for your emails at the computer screen? Do you bite your lips constantly and search for your constant companion, the coffee mug? I know most of you who have worked in television media have experienced this. This group of the above syndromes is called Attention Deficit Trait (ADT). It is a neurological phenomenon caused by brain overload. It is now epidemic in television media organisations. The core symptoms are distractibility, inner frenzy and impatience. People with ADT have difficulty staying organised, setting priorities and managing time. They have a constant low level of panic and guilt.

ADT can controlled by engineering one's environment and one's emotional and physical health.

How to control your ADT:

In general
  • get adequate sleep
  • moderate the intake of alcohol
  • stick to whole grains and fruits
  • exercise for 30 mins daily
At work
  • have a friendly face to face talk with a person you like every 4 - 6 hours
  • break a large task into few smaller tasks
  • keep a section of your work space or desk clear at all times
  • don't let the papers to accumulate
When you feel overwhelmed
  • slow down and take a break
  • move around and take long breath
  • ask for help; in short don't worry alone

Song for assam

Land of rice and land of rhino
Land that gave us birth and blessing
Land that called us ever homewards
We will go home across brahmaputa
We will go home
We will go home
We will go home across the mountains
We will go home singing out song
We will go home
We will go home
Land of bihu and land of struggle
Land that made us man we are
Land that called us ever homewards
We will go home across brahmaputa
We will go home
We will go home
We will go home across the mountains
We will go home singing out song
We will go home
We will go home

Anna and the Hypocrisy

We the people of india always keep double standards when it comes to dealing with real life things. In the public front we show our high morale grounds but in the innermost personal space where nothing can be hidden we tend to bow down to our various insatiable needs. These needs differ from person to person. For a person like a autorikshaw driver, the inner needs may be earning 10 - 20 bucks extra in every trip and for someone like arundhati roy the inner needs will be earning more name by criticizing like of anna.

Most of the time we just complain and complain more. Its just that we never try to find a workable solution. Anna did what most of us couldnot even think of and Ms arundhati roy could not see someone taking on govt better than she did ever. So to get some cheap publicity by making some irrelevant argument she tried her best. Of course she failed like a poor loser. But whats interesting to see will be if she took this example as an experience in life and move on or again go for some cheap publicity in coming years. We are all eagerly waiting
